Ghost Stories for Christmas

Now in its 7th year, Brighton’s original Ghost Stories for Christmas returns to the Lantern Theatre for an evening of macabre and chilling tales. This year we return to our roots and are raising money for THE CLOCKTOWER SANCTUARY - the organisation that we supported with our very first show.

Created in 2013 by producer and actor Craig Johnson's "Blind Piper Productions", the Ghost Stories for  Christmas project has established itself as a regular feature of the Brighton Christmas season whilst raising funds and awareness for local charities. Over the past 6 years we have raised over £4500 for THE CLOCKTOWER SANCTUARY, RISE, FARESHARE SUSSEX, THE SUSSEX CANCER FUND ALLSORTS YOUTH PROJECT and THE ALZHEIMER'S SOCIETY whilst bringing a seasonal chill to our seaside home.

Inspired partly by the pre-Victorian tradition of telling Ghost Stories at Yuletide and partly by the classic BBC adaptions from the 1970s, over the years the show has developed from its initial incarnation of pure storytelling into a night where storytelling meets theatre in a dalliance with the macabre.

Previous productions have featured stories by Stephen King, Ramsey Campbell, Clive Barker, M.R James, Agatha Christie, Joan Aiken, E.F.Benson, John Paul Fitch, Bram Stoker, Charles Dickens and Mary Wilkens Freeman; with audiences suitably disturbed by tales of haunted mirrors, ghostly children, cursed paintings, slippages in time, vengeance from the grave, pan-dimensional monsters, lonely spirits, a malevolent Father Christmas and murder.

This year we are honoured to perform stories by Ramsey Campbell, John Paul Fitch and Neil Gaiman, offering a seasonal selection box of  messages from beyond the grave, mysterious wedding gifts and a dark fable about a man who hates Christmas.....

For the performances from the 18th - 20th, doors will open at 7:30pm, with  the performance starting at 8:00pm.

On Saturday 21st, doors will open at 8:00pm, with the performances starting at 9:00pm allowing audience members to attend "The Burning of the Clocks" beforehand.
